What is Day for Kids?

Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Day for Kids is a national initiative to raise awareness for critical issues facing our youth. With more than a decade of tradition, Day for Kids invites adults to act like kids again by participating in field day events relay races, dodge ball, tug of war and lots of other activities you loved as a kid – while raising funds and advocating for America’s young people by supporting the life-changing work taking place in Boys & Girls Clubs nationwide.

When is Day for Kids in Atlanta?

Saturday, September 7 at Piedmont Park from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

Who supports Day for Kids?

Day for Kids is led by Boys & Girls Clubs of America in partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta. We are grateful to our generous national sponsors Lunchables and Cartoon Network for their support!

How can I get involved ?

Start a team, join a team, volunteer or donate to raise money and awareness for Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the critical issues facing kids today.

Why do we need Day for Kids?

Growing up can be really tough. The challenges facing America’s young people are far greater today than they were for kids just a generation ago. On this day alone:

  • 1 in 5 children live in poverty
  • Nearly 4,400 juveniles will be arrested
  • One third of American youth are obese or overweight
  • 15.1 million children are home without adult supervision after school

As children face these greater challenges, they often have fewer places to turn to for help. But one day can change this trajectory and put these kids on the path to a great future.

For many at-risk youth, that’s the day they enter a Boys & Girls Club, which offers a safe place filled with caring adult mentors to help them do well in school, learn to be healthy and active, and acquire strong character skills to become responsible and productive adults.

At Boys & Girls Clubs of America, we stand for kids. Every day. We stand for their opportunities. For their childhood. For their chance at a great future.

70% of your fundraising for Day for Kids goes back to programs and services for kids in the Atlanta community, and the remainder supports nationwide services for local Boys & Girls Clubs. That means on this one day, you can stand for kids too.
