Disney has an amazing program that takes place annually at the Walt Disney World Resort. It’s called the Disney’s Dreamers Academy with Steve Harvey and ESSENCE magazine. Now in it’s seventh year running and has continued to change teens lives like never before.

Thousands apply to be in this program but only 100 students from all over are selected to participate. They dream to be actors, bakers, journalists or even singers. But they have that in common, a dream. Motivational speakers and celebrities share their stories and provide insight on how to achieve success and “DREAM BIG.” Dreamers have the opportunity to cultivate relationships with other students from across the nation while they gain first-hand knowledge from Disney experts and world-renowned entrepreneurs and executives.

I got the chance to speak with a few Dreamers Academy graduates and hearing their stories and seeing where the are now is amazing. Ebony wanted to be a baker, so she went to the Dreamers Academy to further this dream. After the opening ceremony she was broken into groups of other students that wanted to work in the culinary industry also. They learned from top chefs and got to work in Disney’s huge kitchens. They even prepared a meal for the entire school. Talk about learning first hand and from the best hands about your dream. She was later chosen as a Dreamers Academy Champion and now talks to others about her amazing experience. She’s open up her own baking business and was recently featured on the Steve Harvey show!

It’s a great way to motivate your children to strive for greatness. Giving them a big boost of confidence. So make sure you have your teen apply to be a student (2014 applications are open now).
