Join the Fulton County Public Art Program Team and WRS Inc. on Thursday, January 10 to kick off of a month long celebration of local art. Featuring a pop-up gallery showcasing 114 pieces of original art created by 81 Georgia-based artists, the exhibition will be held at Underground Atlanta for a limited time only. Since 2017, Fulton County Arts and Culture has invested $300,000 into the arts with 56 pieces of art purchased in 2017 and the additional 114 pieces in 2018. Each year more than 300 professional local artists apply, the top artwork forwarded to jurors to select the final pieces for purchase. The artwork selected and showcased includes a wide range of mediums, from 2-D works of drawing, painting, mixed media, collage, fiber, sculpture, and photography. Following the Underground Atlanta pop-up, the artwork will be installed in 14 libraries currently under renovation throughout Fulton County.
The exhibition opening reception will take place on Thursday, January 10 from 5:30-8:30pm, and the closing reception will be held on Saturday, January 26 from 5:30-8:30pm. If you’re interested in viewing the exhibition outside of those events, the space will be open to the public Thursdays and Fridays from 12-5pm from January 11-25, by Eventbrite appointment only.
