What better way to take in an Atlanta Braves baseball game at the new SunTrust Park than to pre-game (or post-game) at a former players restaurant!? The Brave’s own Dale Murphy has opened a new restaurant called Murph’s inside the Cobb Galleria near SunTrust Park. With the convenience of having the I-285 pedestrian bridge that connects the Cobb Galleria and The Battery, you can easily get to Murph’s. As Murphy speaks about the new SunTrust Park and The Battery, “They have created an unbelievable experience for fans.”
If you’re lucky, you might even get to meet the MVP while you’re dining. We sat down with Murphy to find out about his new venture and during our visit he made sure to stop by every table and ask about their experience and food. Taking fun pictures in the “Official Selfie Spot” with guests. The Atlanta Braves gave Murphy’s his giant baseball number that was hanging at Turner Field to decorate his new restaurant.
While it’s fun to browse, we know you came for the food! Murph’s has lots of southern charm and delicious options if you’re looking for a quick bite. Murphy’s main request for his new menu? There had to be okra! We couldn’t agree more. Some of the other highlights on the menu and fan favorites include the cheese curds that are beer battered and fried until golden brown and served with a secret comeback dressing. The regulars rave about the Pot Roast Wet Fries, a plate of fries covered with juicy pot roast, gravy, and cheddar cheese. My personal favorite appetizer was the Artichoke Quarters that are hand breaded and lightly fried and served with the secret comeback sauce.
For dinner, you must try the specialty burgers. Murphy’s favorite thing on the menu is the Bourbon Bacon Burger “Murph’s way.” This is a secret item that you won’t find on the menu but one you should definitely try for yourself. When you order a burger Murph’s way you’ll get your burger topped with pepper jelly and a fried egg. It’s not something I would normally try myself but I think I’m a convert because it was so yummy.
If you saved room for dessert then you must get something fun. A Deep Fried Twinkle may seem very “county fair” but the flavors are not what I would have expected. Just as Murphy said, “They taste like a churro!” A churro with a soft melting creme center. Kids will also love the Ice Cream Helmet, two scoops of ice cream in an Atlanta Braves souvenir helmet bowl.
Murph’s is an official watch spot for the Atlanta Seminoles Club and you will always find a game on. The bar has these great garage doors that open up to the outside patio area that also has TV’s facing outside.
The restaurant is filled with pictures of Murphy throughout his career, including some Little League pictures! You can also shop for Murph’s Merch in the little shop. There are extra special memorabilia that you can find there as well like autographed bats, hats, and more.
Murph’s is great for the whole family, especially if you are a Braves (or just baseball in general) fan.
